MPI Consultation - Review of North Island Eel Sustainability Measures

Fisheries New Zealand is seeking feedback on sustainability measures for North Island eels for 1 October 2018. The measures propose;

  • Shortfin eels (Anguilla australis) in Quota Management Areas SFE 20 to SFE 23
    • Status quo (no change)
  • Longfin eels (Anguilla dieffenbachia) in Quota Management Areas LFE 20 to LFE 23
    • Option 1: Status quo (no change)
    • Option 2: Reduce TAC by 15% and TACC by 32%. No changes to the customary or recreational allowances.
