On 1st April 2018 the new regulations for Electronic Reporting and Geospatial Position Reporting will come into effect. 

MPI have confirmed in an email to all permit holders that the current exemptions to these regulations will be extended. Everyone, except over 28m trawlers, will continue to be exempt from having to comply with the new reporting regulations. All fishers should continue to report in the same way they are currently, no change is required. 

A limited exemption to regulation 46 for the over 28m trawlers has also been extended. 

MPI expect that these regulations won't take effect now until after 1 October 2018.
