Maritime New Zealand consultation - Maritime Rules and Marine Protection Rules

Maritime NZ invites submissions on the proposed Maritime Rules and Marine Protection Rules (Domestic Omnibus) Amendments.

The proposed amendments aim to improve clarity and fix errors in the rules, which include those that relate to:

  • Operating limits
  • Carriage of cargoes
  • Crewing and watchkeeping
  • Seafarer certification
  • Medical standards
  • Design, construction and equipment of SOLAS and non-SOLAS passenger ships, fishing ships and sailing ships
  • Safety equipment
  • Radio
  • Surveys, certification and maintenance of SOLAS ships, large New Zealand ships, barges more than 24 metres in length and foreign ships.
  • Navigational equipment
  • Load lines
  • Crew accommodation
  • Pilotage
  • Discharge of oil
  • Design and construction of oil tankers

The closing date for submissions is 9 August 2019.
