Pāua gathering will no longer be allowed on the Kaikōura coastline from midnight on Monday the 28^th of February, as Kaikōura's 3-month pāua gathering season ends.

The closure extends from Marfells beach, around Cape Campbell, and south to the Conway River.

The fishery reopened on the 1^st of December for a limited season after having been closed for almost 5 years following the Kaikōura earthquakes in November 2016.
