Fisheries New Zealand consultation - Proposed changes to the Fisheries (Seabird Mitigation Measures – Surface Longlines) Circular 2018
Fisheries New Zealand is seeking feedback on proposed changes to the Fisheries (Seabird Mitigation Measures – Surface Longlines) Circular 2018 to apply to all surface longline vessels operating in New Zealand waters. This follows the adoption of a revised seabird conservation and management measure at the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) in December 2018, that allows for the use of approved hook shielding devices as a stand-alone mitigation measure.
Consultation closes on 10 May 2019.
