End of April Fishing Year Reminders
Here are a few reminders to help you prepare for the end of the April 2022/23 fishing year.
Monthly Harvest Returns (MHRs)
Please complete and submit all Monthly Harvest Returns for the April 2022/23 fishing year by the 15th of April 2023. MHRs must be submitted online, and you must have Returns Manager authorisation to do this.
- For catch to count against your ACE for the April 2022/23 fishing year, you must land it by the 31st of March 2023 and record it on your March MHR. If you held 100t or more of ACE during the fishing year you must follow the End of Year Landings process, as shown below.
- Catch taken in March but landed on or after the 1st of April must be recorded on your April MHR.
Not sure how? MHR guides are available here.
ACE Transfers
Please complete all ACE transfers for the April 2022/23 fishing year by the end of the 15th of April 2023.
You can complete ACE transfers online for a flat rate of $8.05 (incl. GST) provided you have ACE Manager authorisation.
Our ACE Transfer guide explains how to do this, and you can find it here.
Overfishing & DVs
You have until the 15th of April 2023 to cover any overfishing.
If your catch for the April 2023/23 fishing year exceeds your ACE on the 15th of April, you will be charged an annual deemed value.
To source available ACE to cover overfishing, you can purchase an ACE Owned by Stock report. A charge of $18.40 (incl. GST) applies per stock or $276 (incl. GST) for all stocks.
End of Year Landings
Please complete an End of Year Landing report using your e-logbook if you:
- Held 100t or more of ACE during the April 2022/23 fishing year.
- Have vessels out fishing across the 31st March to 1st April fishing year change-over.
Example 1
You have fish on board at the end of the fishing year (31st March). During the April 2022/23 fishing year, you held 100t or more of ACE. Your catch on board is therefore considered a landing. In this case, you would submit a landing report using the EOY code, then record the catch on your March MHR.
Example 2
You have fish on board at the end of the fishing year (31st March). However, during the April 2022/23 fishing year, you held less than 100t of ACE. Therefore, you would not need to submit an End of Year Landing report.
