Fisheries New Zealand and the Department of Conservation are seeking feedback on the plan to protect Hector’s and Māui dolphins.

Their proposals set out 4 options each for protecting Hector’s and Māui dolphins from fishing-related threats. The proposals also include other proposed restrictions to seismic surveying and seabed mining in areas which could cause cumulative harm to dolphins.

Submission close on 4 August 2019. Due to a large response, MPI has extended the timeframe for submissions to 10am on 19 August 2019.
